"It's like... it started with my dads blood on my hands, and then just now I saw a grandfather clock-" "God damn it! Jesus H Christ!" He kicked over the garbage can you stood next to. "How many times have you seen it?" He didn't turn to look at you. "What? How did you-" "How many times have you seen the god damn clock?!" He spun around to grab your shoulders. You could see tears welling up behind his eyelashes. Why was he crying? "Just once." He pulled you into his chest, wrapping one arm around your waist and cradling the back of your head in his other. "Okay, okay. This is fine. We still have time to, uh..." he trailed off, removing his hand from your head to wipe his face. "We can fix this.
