Bittersweet Shade is a fanfiction about you, the reader, falling in love with The Shadow Warrior, Macaque. This story comes complete with a playlist for every chapter.
"This was supposed to be a fun hiking trip.", you grumbled to yourself whilst limping through the strange wilderness with aching legs. You mentally cursed at that annoying monkey who dragged you into this.
Just when you were finally calming down, you were startled by an unsettling gurgling coming from somewhere above you. The gurgling got closer, your anxiety got stronger.
You turned around to see if there was anything behind you, your eyes widening at the figure looming behind you. A massive, hulking beast lunged at you with a lust for blood. It's gurgle turned into a shrill shriek, piercing your ears and making your already aching head throb in agony.
You instinctively turned around and ran for your life. Your heart pounded harshly, your adrenaline stabbing the muscles in your body to help you get away as fast as possible. Though this had been the fastest you had ever run, you couldn't get away fast enough. You backed up into a big, thick tree with nowhere to run. Closing your eyes in defeat, you waited for a swift death. Waited. Waited... Waited?
Wait. You weren't on your feet any longer. You felt hands. Holding you up. Arms. Furry arms holding you firmly. You opened up your eyes to see a hooded, humanoid figure gazing down at you confusedly.
"Now, where did you come from...?"

After a while of putting up with Danny though, you had you're last straw ripped away when he hurt you're beloved Mary. You ran away to start a new life, taking Mary with you. You become known as "Shade", a mysterious cloaked criminal known for your stealth and strength. You took pride in your reputation, and the best part was, nobody knew anything about you. From your face down to you're gender, it was all concealed. It was all cloaked. But all this changed once they found you. They took you in, capturing you to mold you into a soldier fighting for the survey corps. You despised the survey corps at first. After all, they stole you from your home. Took you away from the people you loved. They ruined your life, right? But... did they? You're stubbornness and skill capture the attention of a certain short black haired male. Corporal Levi was humanities strongest though, he couldn't like you, could he? He couldn't...
