When I was child, I was told stories from my elders about the very rare occasion when someone found their soulmate. Not everyone was fortunate to find their true other half but our bloodline and some others were given this gift by a goddess.
It was said that when you met eyes with your soulmate it would feel as if you had known them all your life, your being will be pulled towards each other, the voice of them will be almost as if the heavens opened up the kingdom and let you here the signing of angels. When you touch them, there will be nothing in the universe that can keep both of you apart. It was meant to be, fate led you two to be together for eternity. And when the both of you finally complete the mating ritual, the both of you will become one opening your hearts fully to each other.
I was led to believe that my mate was supposed to love me and only me. We would grow up together build this beautiful family and live an even better life than the one we lived when we were apart. I was guaranteed by my elders that someday I would find my mate and I would experience this "happily ever after" they all experienced.
But they were wrong.
