Maria Carlita Valdez is a 16 year old loner Mexican going to a normal high school in San Francisco, California. She has a problem though, she has been suicidal ever since her dad died. Natalia and Valentina don't make things any easier. 
    Her mom drinks, a lot and has one night stands, a lot. Plus she just got paired on this science project with a kid she's never really seen before. He is gothic and doesn't talk that much and Maria is fine with that.
