James Hurysz was born in New York just after World War II ended. His parents were both born in the city of New York. In Western and Central New York, he attended private schools. Jim then served in the United States Army for two years on active service. He worked for various big manufacturing companies before going to work for the US Department of Commerce, where he provided Quality Assurance services connected to data collecting for several years.
