A loud noise came from inside the building across from them. All the people immediately became silent. They watched as a young boy, no older than ten, with long religious robes, walked out with a book about the size of his chest. Confidence and authority painted well across his face. As he got closer to them, they could hear the boy's loud authoritative voice echo throughout the plaza. "Fret not, my flock. Times have been hard indeed ever since the end of the war. Many have recurred to crime in order to survive these trying times. But the Great Artist, in his infinite watchfulness, does not share his jubilation with those that commit iniquity. We must learn from the mistakes of our predecessors that, in their infinite greed and lack of compassion, destroyed themselves. Heed me now, my flock. Is this what we want for our town?" Rearing this, one citizen in the crowd raises his hand and speaks in a loud, defiant voice. "It must have been that filthy goblin!" Another one, a woman, agrees with the man's statement. "Who even let that creature inside, anyway?! The goblin is clearly the murderer." Oh, another one? "We've found a dead traveller in the woods, many dead goblins around it! Must've been her!" Poor, Osha. Don't be afraid, sweet one, they don't know what they say. That's right Cadimus, take her away from here, she had enough of these simpletons. "Goblin? What goblin?" Asked the child in cleric robes in a booming defiant voice. "The one who arrived yesterday, that's always following the Knight." "That's right! That knight must also have something to do with this!" screamed a random citizen in the crowd. Oh, Cadimus, you better hurry with her. "We need to leave, come." Said Cadimus to Osha as he dragged her to the town entrance, but blocking his path was the very same guard that allowed our duo to enter here in the first place. What a stroke of bad luck. ***** Cover art by: zombie-phoenix (https://missingmonstersart.tumblr.com/)

Nearly three centuries ago, the once-mighty human-dwarven alliance of Ostrovia was destroyed during a brutal series of civil wars and political malfeasances. Ancient blood magic and dwarven machinery fueled the death and destruction. Kings turned on one another, and the great wizards were corrupted by their own power. In the last days of the fall, the orc tribes, united by chaos and bloodshed, descended from the mountains and destroyed the war-torn kingdom, becoming the new dominant race of the land, leaving humanity on the brink of extinction. During those final days, a group of desperate survivors set course on a bold expedition into the perilous and uncharted Sea. Against all odds, a single ship crashed upon the shores of Avaloria... a realm steeped in ancient magic and guarded by a living forest teaming with dangerous enemies and undiscovered wonder. Now, nearly three centuries later, under the steadfast leadership of Aldros Valtir, the descendants of that fateful journey labor to rebuild civilization in the new world. At the edge of the wild frontier, young Aelar Varos has grown up in Harrow's End, a modest village, clinging to the untamed forests of Avaloria. But when Aelar unwittingly attracts the attention of something more powerful than he can fathom, it sets his destiny on an uncertain course. Cedric Valtir, eldest son of the King and heir to the throne, is loved by his men and women in equal measure. In the bustling heart of Valoria, where the lively corridors of The Silver Stag echo with hope and revelry, Cedric bridges his regal past with the promise of a new future. With his effortless grace, keen intellect, and warm humor, he inspires his people as he listens to their dreams and fears, even as whispers of impending threats swirl around him. But what will fate have in mind when he leaves the walls of the city that defines him?
