Every 30th of December, when the clock strikes 12:00, Joshua would go out from their house and would look fondly at the stars above, hoping they would grant what his heart desires.
He would watch them with sparkling eyes, admiring how beautiful and bright they are. He would clasped his hands, put them under his chin before closing his eyes, and then he will whisper his wishesㅡthe very same wishes he kept asking ever since he was a child.
He would ask questions as he cries his heart out, desperately asking for answers. But how unfortunate for Joshua, his questions were never answered, his wishes were never granted.
He wouldn't deny that there was a time where he thought to just give upㅡa lot of times actually. But then there's always a tiny voice inside his head urging him to continue hoping and to keep waiting, and so he did.
It's 5 minutes away before the 30th of December, and Joshua was impatiently waiting until the clock strikes 12:00. He was anxiously looking at the wall clock hanged on their living room, the sound it makes wasn't helping at all as for some reason, it's making him more nervous. He doesn't understand why he's nervous in the first place, but he was mentally drained and exhausted so he just shrugged it off. One more minute and Joshua gets more impatient, thus with his phone on his hand, the boy went outside and found himself alone on their backyard garden.
He stared over his phoneㅡhis breath hitched as it shows it's 12:00 midnight. Shoving it in his pocket, he looked up and stared at the stars who seems brighter than how it should be. They were sparkling and it was such a beautiful sight to see, thus with a smile on his face, he clasped his hands and closed his eyes. Warm fluids started to flow from his eyes down to his cheeks, and the poor guy started sobbing.
World stopped and so as his heartbeat, because when he finally opened his eyes, a boy with a smile brighter than the sun welcomed him.
