Zya knew from a very young age that she was different from most of the other children in her age group. She often found herself daydreaming of leaving the Kingdom and even more often she would find herself entranced by the beautiful women handpicked to work for the wealthy families. She never quite understood why the King and Queen refused to share wealth with the common folk. After all, the working class people were the reason they had their wealth to begin with. Zya didn't understand a lot of things. No 18 year olds with little to no access to unbiased education ever understood the hierarchy of the Kingdom. Especially those born into the wealth themselves.
From the time she was old enough to eat peas she was taught to be ladylike. "Be a valuable woman, Zya. Wake up with the birds to ready your face and dress modestly." her mother often told her. She had expressed to her mother that she would not be wearing makeup unless a special occasion called for it and her mother reluctantly tolerated her rebellion. But that didn't matter much today, as today would be a day that changed her life forever.
