Ellie is a soldier in a world without governments. A generation ago, a series of financial crises caused most of the world’s governments to collapse, and left many of the people in those countries in terrible personal debt. Since then, the worst debtor nations have been under military occupation by the troops of the debt recovery corporations, and the worst debtor of all is Měi-guó, the old United States. Ellie is serving in the Afghan Police Action when she receives bad news from home. She is told the daughter she hasn’t seen in years is dead. She flies home from war, upset, to do what needs to be done, but once there she finds out all is not as it seems. Ellie’s daughter is alive and unhurt. She is being held by of one of the many debt-recovery corporations. Held, for leverage, to make Ellie do the corporation a favour. Ellie’s daughter will be returned unharmed if Ellie does as they wish. The son of a company director is lost somewhere in the wilderness of post-debt-restructuring America, and hasn't been seen for three days. The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. She will have to, if she wants to save the daughter she hasn't seen in years. Imagine having so many rules you have to follow, it's hard to keep track of. Imagine being ranked lower than a dog in society. This is what life is like for 15-year-old Layla who live in Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban. Join her on her struggles through life and be with her when she goes through her fight for freedom. Can she find a scrap of love in this new and hateful world? WARNING: There is controversial material in this that I had not intended when I wrote this at a very young age. Since then, I have learned more on the subjects and hope that one day I'll be able to re-edit this and change those conflicts. I am eternally sorry if I offend you in this story. It was not intentional. NOTE: I wrote this story in 2011. It's kind of my baby because it was the first time I was ever excited about writing a real story. It's not exactly in the greatest condition. I hope to edit it at some point! ALSO, I tried my best with the facts and the Afghan and Muslim culture. Seeing as I am neither of these, it is impossible for me to represent them perfectly. If anyone has suggestions or tips, they would be much appreciated!

When war erupted across Europe in 1939, sixteen year old Katherine Montague had known what she wanted to do - what she had to do. Now, five years later and a trained nurse in the British army, she finds herself thrust into the thick of that same war. But as the fight for the Western Front rages on, Katherine discovers something amid the rubble of the death and destruction around her. Something that will plunge her into a completely new war - one she'd never intended to fight, but has no intention of losing. The war for William Hughes' heart. Love might be enough to win the battle, but will it be enough to win the war? If not, her own heart just might pay the price.

Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story
Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story
Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice. The other names were from my Great and Great-Great-Aunts. Enjoy. ❤ 🌺 ☘ 🌻 💖 🍂 🌿 🌼 💗 🌲 🌸 🍃 💕 🌹 🌱 ⚘💝 🌳 🏵 💮 💌 🌾 💐 🍁 💞 🍀

Into The Trenches: A World War I Journal [2019]
It is 1914, and Henry Anderson is watching the world descend into war. Like many young men at the time, he is fascinated by the idea of warfare and glory. Henry enlists in the military against his parents' wishes and throws himself into the life of a British soldier in Flanders. But it is far from what he expects: Henry's fantasies of righteous battle fade into the grim reality of gruesome death and shell-shock. He and his fellow soldier Jacob must help each other survive the cruel trenches, but it is no longer certain that either of them will return to England alive. Told in journal entries and letters from Henry's sister Elizabeth, this reveals the realities and horrors of World War I, on the battlefield and in the homefront. I wrote this for a history project while studying WWI and got way too involved in it, so here you are. WARNINGS: gun/bomb/gas-related violence, war descriptions, graphic death, suicide attempt. I will mark specific chapters with warnings and give summaries of those chapters on the following one. These may not be complete, so if a chapter is not marked and should be, please comment to let me know. Written in 2019 (age 15).
