Moving from California to Indiana is an adjustment for anyone, but being landlocked is suddenly the least of seventeen year old Becca Hargrove's concerns. She starts to warm up to new people and she finds herself wrapped up in the so-called "Hawkins Curse", but as connections between incidents form and tension rises, she struggles to maintain the balances and disguises she's spent years perfecting.
