Alec was everything that occupied Eliza's mind from childhood to adolescence. She and her best friend, Alec's brother Damien, had spent many afternoons fantasizing about being siblings in law. That is, until he married another woman.
Unable to bear the heartache and left with little to no good choices, she accepts Damien's proposal - friendship and the protection of his family name for her keeping his secret.
All went well until Damien was murdered, or at least that's what Eliza believes. Now she finds herself alone, with no prospects or a way to protect herself and no idea who did it.
