A romantic heartbreaking story about a timid single mother Xiao Zhan and captain Wang Yibo, who becomes her son in law.
The year 1932 is their first encounter, when Xiao Zhan saved Wang Yibo's life during the war when he was a starving orphan. She was just a young adult then, and he was a young teen.
That same year Xiao Zhan gets trafficked into sexual slavery by the imperial Japanese, what causes her to depart from the young teen. Years later she becomes mentally ill and loses memory.
At some point Wang Yibo discovers the reason behind her disappearance and mourns Xiao Zhan's past, wanting to seek justice in her name.
Throughout the process, he eventually gets charmed by the loveliness of his mother in law, despite what the tragedy she went through.
