The Child Outside of Heaven
"It is a fickle thing, hope. And still, it keeps one going."
Keiko, a young child who had been sick with leukemia for most of his life, is near death. His parents, realizing that he may never be cured, decide to agree with his doctors and end life support. But before Keiko leaves forever, he sees a boy outside his window who lets him live and be free again, at least during the last few hours of his short life.
"The Child Outside of Heaven" is a moving short story about the value of life and letting go, and how no one in this world dies without knowing that they have achieved what they've always wanted their entire life: to be free.
