Why, because y/n has a power where she can hear peoples thoughts, it gets louder the more anxious she is, but when she's calm or happy, it's like it not even there. But sadly for y/n, she was cursed with anxiety, it just so happens when she moves to Hawkins she finds a cure...who happens to be cute too. 

Y/n is 19 and in her senior year just like eddie. The reason she's 19 is because she joined school late, her parents still convinced Shes 18 still.
