17 year old Meg Harper is a troubled girl. She's an outsider. No likes her, and she can't seem to please anyone's needs. She spends her days hiding underneath her dull gray hoodies, wearing sunglasses, and tunes the world out by blasting music into her ears from her earbuds and her iPod. Terrible things go through her mind- thinking she is isn't good enough for this world. But when a new kid, Miles, comes to her school, something about him makes her so curious... wanting to learn more about him. But what Meg doesn't know is that she'll be surprised that Miles is actually very understanding and that he will form a long-lasting bond with Meg. Things are going to get better... but this bond won't last long- even when Meg thinks it will.
