All Noah Valentine wants is to be independent. Having passed twenty, he decides it's time to be an adult and take on some responsibilities, so he ends up moving away and working two jobs. Being a clerk at a grocery store is just one of his ways to make ends meet, but his job as a bartender at a club is turning into so much more. The vibrant nature of that place is what Noah needs to feel alive and his co-workers are fast becoming his new best friends. And then there's Dex - the owner's brother and a guy Noah begins to crave as more than a friend. The problem is, Dex doesn't seem to reciprocate. Dexter Bailey used to be a generally happy guy. He had his beloved adopted brother Ash, his best friend Caleb, and his friend-turned-lover Julian. But after Julian betrays him and breaks his heart, Dex is careful to never fall in love again. That changes after a stranger saves his life - a stranger who Dex soon finds out is the new bartender at his brother's club. As Dex's attraction to Noah grows, his walls begin to crumble and he starts to wonder if he could ever trust another lover. Then Julian comes back, begging for one more chance and reminding Dex of all the hardship a romantic relationship could bring. Will Noah manage to prove to Dex that a chance at love is worth risking your heart?

*Note: This story is only rated mature according to Wattpad guidelines, and I am unable to change the rating, but as the author, I can assure you that such a label for this story is DRAMATIC. There is no smut or explicit content in my story, just maybe some inappropriate scenarios, but nothing rated R. The world is cruel, and Dareen Abu feels helpless. She's just going with the flow of what society tells her to do: go to college, get your degree, and work for the rest of your life like a robot. But her mind is always on her dreams: becoming a writer, finding love, and not having to worry about her finances. Writing is her safe haven. She utterly adores romance and fantasies about it all day, inserting herself in her character's shoes for some thrill in her rather boring life. Though her life is a lot greater than most people's, she notices her family's struggles. They came into the country with only a bag of items, after all; however, after seventeen years, they still haven't been able to break free from the minimum wage cage. Not to mention that getting a job nowadays is harder than ever, which she's personally seen her father struggle with. After six months, he finally lands a job, but it's another nursing home driving job that he isn't getting paid well for. What he is good at is cooking. He may not be primarily passionate about it in this given moment since he's been in survival mode for the past seventeen years, but perhaps a cushy private chef job where rich people let him experiment with all kinds of organic goods and in return eat Michelin-star-worthy food, for which he gets paid well, would be a win-win situation for everyone. But just how will Dareen help her father get a better job? And little does she know that perhaps she may benefit from her pursuit to help him. Dive into Dareen's journey by giving this story a good read to find out just what happens to her and her family... and her heart?
