Elliot Warren is tired of living in the shadows of mysteries, but when Will Byers, one of Elliot's childhood best friends, goes missing one November night, yet another mystery to latch itself onto Elliot like a bloodhound on a trail. And Elliot is determined to solve this mystery himself, with the help of the rest of his friend group.

Teresa Tanaka's entire life has been uprooted once again when people start mysteriously vanishing in the sleepy town of Hawkins, and she ends up wrapped up in the middle of them. As if the appearance of a mysterious girl in the same place Will disappeared twenty-four hours prior wasn't enough, Teresa was reportedly the last person to see Jeremy Parker alive before he went missing a mere few days after the Byers boy had.

Corey Warren is desperately trying to ensure the remnants of his family doesn't come crumbling down. It's painful, watching the anguish slowly overcome his brother following the disappearance of his best friend. And Jeremy's subsequent disappearance hits Corey like a sucker punch to the gut - another agonising occurrence he can add to his list of grievances.

What the trio doesn't realise is that these disappearances are tied to something beyond their comprehension, as the mundanity of Hawkins is forever disrupted by the troopers' revelations of government experiments, alternate dimensions and inter-dimensional horrors that threaten to destroy their world as they know it.
