James loves Betty.

He's been certain of that ever since he saw her for the first time. He knows he's in love when she smiles at him, when he holds her under the moonlit sky and when he gives her his cardigan. Betty is perfect for him.

Until, one summer, he meets Augustine and all of his certainties are destroyed. Augustine is nothing like Betty; she's lively, radiant and desperately wants to be loved. James can't help but feel a strong connection to her, even if he's still with Betty.

Once Augustine becomes a hazy, summer memory, James will have to make an important choice that will determine his future with Betty. Nothing is certain anymore, even their hopes have become fragile and delicate.

Will young, teenage love win over a passionate, summer adventure?

***

Based on Taylor's songs "betty", "august" and "cardigan", but it can also be read as a stand-alone romance novel.

On steamy, hot summer days, the parched soil cracks like ice into jagged lines resembling lightning blowing up the midnight sky. Summer craves to be quenched and begs to feel the invigorating shower that only rain can douse. It takes what it can get from rain without considering the possibility of destruction. Rain is a necessary evil. It's prayed for yet cursed and hated. It brings forth destruction and life simultaneously. Rain is a refreshing sprinkle and an overwhelming flood. It's elusive, and it alone decides when and where to release its precipitation with no regard to the impact of its power. *** Summer breezed into McGrath's Pub like a breath of fresh air. Despite her miserable day and the tepid rain dampening the streets of Harrisburg, she lit up the bar with her bright smile the moment she entered. Rain is looking for a warm body to take to his bed. He spots Summer and immediately approaches her. She has no clue about his plans for her, and he's determined to bring those plans to fruition. Can't wait to read more! What I got was something different. The beautiful descriptions of the beach town made me feel warm and cozy and kept me reading until these two characters were introduced. I thought their meeting was innocent and sweet, not what I was expecting. It was really good." - CourtneyPeterman0
