Allison Wright is the first to admit she has a great life. With good friends, perfect grades, a promising future and a family fortune stretching back generations; what's not to like? And besides her dislike of music, she fits in perfectly with her circle of friends. 

Yet as her senior year of high school begins and the pressures of University as well as the future start bearing down, she finds herself looking for something different. She’s just not quite sure what she’s looking for. That is until a passing mention and multiple encounters bring a boy she'd never met before to the forefront of her mind. He's nothing like anyone she's ever met. With his deep grey eyes, secrets and guitar; Cole Mathews might just be that dose of different she's been longing for.

Due to having a terrible memory, Aiden decided to write in journals about his daily struggles, his longing for a better life, and breakthroughs that he accomplishes throughout the story. Aiden loves to sing and Write his own music. He is good at the piano but his love is the old guitar that his Gramps gave him years ago. Aiden has one younger brother named Caleb, which is the normal typical annoying brother. Aiden has a girlfriend named Tessa who lives about an hour away from him who he longs to marry. Throughout the story, Aiden struggles to move on through each day, as days turn into night and night into day, he finds himself growing colder towards his father. Who is the towns hero practically. everybody loves the star football coach, Josh Phillips. Things aren't what they seem behind doors though, their father tends to be abusive. Verbal and physical. Aiden can choose to live with his mom but chooses not to because he wants to protect his brother who can't choose yet. As Aiden dives deeper into his fathers unknown past, he uncovers more and more details about his father's past. As he continues to dive deeper, the tension grows heavier. Through out the story, Aiden finds himself digging through old journals, trying to remember certain things. Can Aiden solve the mystery of his father's behavior and show the world the true nature of his father or will he choose to shrink down to nothing and continue to struggle?

Tessa O’Connell has everything she’s ever wanted for herself by the start of her senior year in high school. With her loving boyfriend Jay and her best friend Nicole by her side, there’s nothing that could bring her down, well with the exception Cole Stone. He may be Jay’s step brother AND Nicole’s friend with frequent benefits but no one rattles Tessa more than he does. He’s dark, brooding, sinfully gorgeous and…seems to loathe her guts. She’s done figuring out what his problem is but can’t deny that there’s something about Cole that gets her pulse racing. Once someone that pranked her mercilessly as kids, he’s now the infamous bad boy who for the past three years has pretended that she doesn’t exist. Tessa knows that she should stay away, be happy that he’s left her alone but when Cole’s attentions become less annoying and more…dare she say romantic, she begins to question his real motives and wonder what happened all those years ago. And as he gets bolder in his advances, Tessa’s forced to confront the choices she’s made in her seemingly perfect life so far and whether her the boy she claims to love is truly the person who’s right for her.
