This is a story that takes place in the mid years of the 20th century, when the world has a problem with the colour of skin. It takes place in a small town named Maryville with a girl named Mariah King. An open, kind black girl who lives in the part of Maryville where only black people live because of the differences the blacks have with the whites.
Mari as everyone calls her thinks that all blacks around the world are treated badly as the way her folks are treated and that the whole world has a problem with blacks. But when a pale, tall, white boy named Will comes into her life, he gives Mari a different side of the world that she had never taught existed.
But a few people don't agree with her learning about this new world Will is teaching her and they put a bridge between her and Will's relationship.
Can Mari and Will cross this bridge that has been put between them? Find out in this story where love finds it's way in a world where black and white don't mix.
