This is a short story about a young girl who tends to romanticize the past while trying to avoid her future. Josephine Gardner was arranged to be married at the age of 16, she had never met the man she was meant to spend the rest of her life with. For some reason, her parents held onto her fiance's identity as if it were a secret. But now that she was 20,(an age her mother found suitable for marriage) it was time to meet the man she had heard so little about.
Carter Montgomery (31) was a man with little patience, he has always been quick to anger. His parents found him a wild child who needed to be tamed. What better way to tame a person than to tie them down to the responsibility of furthering the family name, and starting a family of his own with a woman he has yet to meet.
