Being overweight is a problem that occurs due to wrong eating habits. When you get hungry, you don't get control over yourself and eat food that is more than enough for satisfying your hunger. It is always good to eat a little less than your hunger.
I recommend you to take a vegetarian diet. If you are meat lovers then minimize your meat consumption and eat a more veg diet.
Exercise
Exercise is most important for reducing weight.
If you are taking a diet properly which is useful for reducing weight and ignore exercise then it will not work.
You are supposed to exercise for at least 20 minutes daily.
Persistence
