Liling a senior in high school struggles with making friends. Her father is like a ghost never really there. And her little brothers are always in trouble for something. And her best friend? Well Liling always feels like Kira is leaving her behind for others, or that she could never keep up with her popular best friend. 

       On her 18th birthday, her best friend gives her a new game, Hearts and Swords. But on her 18th birthday, her brothers don't care, her father forgets, and she turns down the opportunity to finally meet new people and get out of her comfort zone. Upset with the people around her and with herself, she accidentally drops herself in the new game. But when she opens her eyes, she realizes it's a world like no other. She could restart her life in this game as the person who she wants to be and with the people who actually care for her.
