A race of colossal aliens, the Tsosyrans, took over the planet in a matter of months. Humanity has been all but exterminated. The humans left alive have been caged and sent to facilities for scientific study. Kriss, a young woman who was captured, has accepted her fate knowing that she will soon be tortured to death at the hands of the ruling alien race. When she exhibits unexpected cleverness and determination during the first test, one of the giants takes an interest. As Kriss continues to surprise him, he begins to question the morality of what the Syrans have done.

Prologue: Earth has found out they're not alone in the universe. An alien species have contacted Earth, giving them a chance to be protected by the aliens out there that threatens the universe. They inform them that there are in fact thousands of alien species out there. Now, after centuries of terraforming, a rejuvenated Earth was ready for habitation. A team of Miorpean researchers were tasked with testing the environment of this newly reclaimed world. One member of the team, Mira, made a stunning discovery. Somehow, humans had survived and were thriving in large communal settlements. Mira would come to believe that humans respected the planet and vowed to protect them from the fate the befell their ancestors. A stunning revelation about the origins of these humans would bring her into an intense conflict with a code of ethics and beliefs that has guided the course of her ancestral people since the beginning of time.
