As season 4 just ended and everyone had killed Vecna and with the help of Eleven the gates were now closed. Hawkins, Indiana was starting to go back to normal, yes the town was still a bit rough due to the massive earthquake that had hit. The party were going into their freshman year of high school and the older kids would be going into their senior year. Everyone in the town thought they had pretty bad trauma from the three killings that had happened along with the earthquake but nothing compared to the trauma these twelve kids had, they had gone to hell and back several times. Since they all had the same trauma they had to help each other through it. And they asked the question, 'Will things ever get back to normal?'.
