Kyffyn is a widower twice over, losing his first wife during childbirth and his second to the fever seven years later, along with their newborn son. Ten years later, Kyffyn has lived a reclusive life on the edge of town. Already tormented by the losses he has suffered, he has taken it upon himself to fill a need within his community: to take upon the sins of the dead so they can pass on in peace. Every soul that he helps in this manner passes their darkest secrets on to him, adding to the pain and nightmares he already struggled with.
