Joel had been training his whole life for this one day.

The war ended when he was three, a bloody history erased in the blink of an eye. But it came at a price. His hand was promised in marriage from thar moment on, to the girl next in line for the Ocean Empire throne. He had never met her. And he would getting married to her the same day he meets her.

But Joel didn't want this. He didn't want any of it. He didn't want to meet this girl, or marry her, not this stuck up princess of a kingdom that killed thousands of Mezalean soldiers, ripped them from their chances of ever coming home.

So he left.

He left, he ditched his kingdom on the day he was to be wed.
