For an indeterminant amount of centuries, mutants-humans with supernatural abilities of various kinds-have existed among mankind. Many hid their abilities in order to lead normal lives and avoid persecution of various kinds, some exploited them to survive, and others hid in plain sight using their unnatural gifts to make a living.
But since the early 20th century, mutants have consolidated in several safe havens throughout the U.S and Europe with the covert help of a brilliant scientist, passionate about giving mutants a safe place to avoid persecution, control their abilities, and learn to live a normal life should they choose to do so.
In the present day, many U.S mutants on the east coast live in what they nickname 'The Campus.' A large private resident orphanage and school in rural Virginia.
But try as the leading caretakers of The Campus might, there is an ever growing conflict brewing in their community: How much control is too much control? What is truly being done 'for the good of the mutants?'
Three adolescent friends living on The Campus struggle with day to day conflicts of their own. One, a reluctant tomboyish genius. Another, a mutant who has only just discovered his abilities. And another, a mutant who has known about his abilities since birth but has yet to tell anyone in his life.
When malicious forces from outside and within the campus threaten their monotonous lives, they find themselves facing questions they can only find the answers to outside their secure little bubble. Answers that may tell them how secure their bubble really is, and if they even want to be a part of it anymore.
