Steve POV:

Just be stupid teens for a night. That was the only plan. Be stupid teens, get stupid wasted, and have stupid fun with my girlfriend. That was it. The whole plan. Yet somehow I managed to not only fuck that up, but leave my girlfriend behind. Things had been different. I knew that. I was doing everything I could for Nancy. I was going to dinners with Barb's parents, I was being supportive, I was trying. She needed stability, I was being that for her. And still...

Bullshit.

That was what she called us, everything, all the dinners, the effort, the work I'd been doing. For her. And it was all bullshit to her. She didn't even love me. She'd been lying. About fucking everything. So I drove. I drove and drove. Through Hawkins. Home wasn't where I wanted to be. Nowhere was where I wanted to be. So I just kept going. To the only place left I could think of to go. Only thing left was to hope that Lucy would open that door for me.
