Seven hours, five minutes and forty one seconds ago, Alex had again nearly died and if he hadn't been so worried for the man, willing to push and pray that Alex wouldn't mind too much if he checked on him...if they hadn't reconciled...if they were still separate entities orbiting the same space, or each other really...Alex might be dead and he would be fucking oblivious until someone called to tell him Alex was dead. And they might not know that would be killing Michael the moment those words became indelible fact.

A slight re-write of episode 3x09 Tones of Home.

Commander Miles Quaritch was on a mission to escort some new scientists down to the research facility built on Pandora. Whilst doing so, his ego got the best of him and he got the idea to 'show off his power'. Walking up to the pilot, Commander Quaritch ordered a fire on an area covered by trees. Little did he know, he fired on a small medical lab that was run by a team of humans selected specifically by his higher ups. Once he landed and finished his escort mission, he was ordered to return to base and was put on suspension. Back on Pandora, a human child was the only thing left in the rubble of the destroyed medical lab. Unknown to Commander Quaritch, he had orphaned a two year old little girl, and left her in the ruins surrounded by more than 10 dead bodies. The mother of the child was killed, along with every human she has ever known. Once the child woke up and began to cry, she was so young she couldn't do anything. She knew she was hurt and scared, the bright light from the sun and all the ash falling onto her white skin further frightening her. The two year old was all alone. The forest line next to the medical lab began to make noise as a Thanator began to answer to the baby's cries. The feline-esque creature listened to her maternal instincts and followed the sound of despair. The animal climbed down from the trees and poked her heads out of the leaves, her many eyes finding the source and locking onto the injured infant. This is where the child's story begins... MINDSLIP is the catastrophe which hits the Earth at 8.15am GMT next Wednesday morning. It began six hundred and fifty years earlier when Betelgeuse fulfilled its long-held prophecy to turn supernova. The radiation, gamma rays and gravitational waves hit the Earth at the same time as a coronal mass ejection. The combined bombardment causes all creatures on the Earth to swap minds, leaving people in animals, animals in people, men in women and children in adults. The nightmare which follows becomes a social and economic catastrophe. Geoffrey Arnold becomes a key figure in the government catastrophe committee, formed to resolve the myriad issues raised by MINDSLIP. Power generation, the health service, farming, pay, pensions, education, the banking system and asset ownership spiral into chaos. In addition, Geoffrey must save his wife from an imminent premature death brought on by one of the MINDSLIP effects. MINDSLIP is a realistic, frightening and sometimes amusing work of imagination which explores how people and families react to the world being changed beyond recognition. Note: MINDSLIP had been acquired by a publisher who, regrettably, has now folded. Rather than put the original version up on Wattpad, I have decided to give it a considerable edit. I'd love to know what you think. The early chapters might disturb, but hopefully they will also make you think about how you would deal with Geoff, Andrea, Angus, Caroline or Allan's situations. Every day his life was plagued by the hollowness, never feeling whole. When he turned sixteen it got worse. An extreme longing took up residence in the center of that emptiness. A longing so intense it caused his heart to physically speed up uncontrollably. Following his businessman father from planet to planet, he spent ten long years searching for something, anything that would fill the void in his life. Nothing he found appeased the longing or filled the emptiness. Nothing, that is, until on the planet Casentell, far from his home world of Earth, Joshua met Larcin. Larcin was an alien from the planet Joong, a planet totally shrouded in mystery. Other than their physical appearance, which was the same as every other bipedal humanoid race in the universe, virtually nothing was known about them or the planet they came from. One crucial factor set them apart from every other race. They were the only race of people with the ability to navigate the starships that made interstellar travel possible. Without a Joong navigator at the helm, even the mightiest starship was stuck within the confines of its home solar systems. Larcin was one of these navigators. What could possibly draw these two men together? And what would be the consequences of this fateful meeting?
