Edith Lenoir has spent her whole life waiting for the day a family would finally decide to keep her. For as long as she could remember, she has been sent from one orphanage or foster home to the other. She never got to stay anywhere for very long, especially after she turned 7 when strange happenings started to follow wherever she went. After one final unexplainable incident that has her on the run at 17, she is found by a handsome brooding vampire who introduces her to a whole new world, the Shadow World. After he brings her to Magnus Bane, the High Warlock of Brooklyn, she realizes that her life will never be the same. He takes her in and for the first time in over a decade, she has someone looking out for her. They are quick to discover that Edith isn't any ordinary warlock, she was Valentine's first experiment. And he's looking for her. In just one night, she goes from completely unwanted to a little too wanted- by the police and by Valentine. 

This is a Mortal Instruments AU fan-fiction! There may be a EdithxRaphael storyline, but I don't think it's going to be the main focus of the story. TMI focuses more on shadowhunters, this is going to be more about Downworlders (Magnus, Raphael, Luke, Maia, and of course Edith) but don't worry, the main TMI gang will be involved! It's going to start in 2006, about 6 months before Clary's introduction to the Shadow World. I am changing a couple of things for the sake of the story and using a mixture of things from the books and the TV show. I've spent an embarrassing amount of time on Shadowhunter Wiki doing research to help me with this so if something is incorrect it's most likely on purpose (like the age Raphael died and little things like that). 
All ideas are from the wonderful universe that Cassandra Clare created with The Mortal Instruments. I never would have been able to come up with any of this without her and if you guys somehow haven't read the series I highly recommend you do! I hope you enjoy :)All Rights Reserved
