Seven-year-old Nala is woken up by a strange noise from outside her home in the middle of the night then goes to investigate. Her fear and worry dissipate when she sees that her father is the cause of the disturbance. Upon close inspection, she learns that she is witnessing an evil crime then mentally blocks the occurrence. Convinced she had had a nightmare; Nala wakes up in the morning and goes to view the ground her father was standing on in her bad dream and finds a beautiful swing, installed for her enjoyment. Though swinging is her favorite thing to do, the girl refuses to even go close to her personal playground. Nala retreats to her bedroom and turns into an introverted, hostile child up until reaching the age of eighteen frees her to move out and away from her father. In her quest to finding peace with what she witnessed as a little girl, Nala studies towards being an attorney. Her plan to right the wrong of being a silent accomplice is interrupted by her father's growing arrogance due to success, fame and power. She reaches her limit a few months before the end of her final year at university and reveals the truth in a way she thinks will protect her but ends up putting her mother in the firing line.
