That was the day Dashiell Dax Hudson was elated at the fact that same sex marriage had finally been legalized in Texas. Alas, it was also the day he came to know about his parents' homophobic views, making him decide to never come out.
After a little push from his sister, Dashiell comes out of the closet, which results with him being disowned and even losing his best friend, the boy he had been in love with for years, Keith Barlowe.
But with his sister by his side, Dashiell enjoys his life out of the closet, away from his old home.
Years later, Keith and Dashiell meet again. Dashiell cannot seem to get past how the other boy once treated him when he came out and Keith becomes conflicted with his own developing feelings for his former best friend.
