Two Dark Wardens

The birth of triplet queens is a time of celebration on the island, with the the promise of better prospects beckoning the families blessed to raise a queen into her Ascension and possibly into her reign.

But once the queens are named and gifted, the old queen is forgotten by the island. Her duty finished and no longer bound to it's soil, free to explore the seas and lands beyond Fennbirn that many queens long to venture. Yet despite their long service ceasing in the painful ending of birth, many queens pass away from the sheer trauma and damage the divine power of the Goddess instills in them, and their dreams of the Mainland dashed into the wind.

This is the final chapter of the life of Queen Nicola, the second queen of the poisoner dynasty, mother to Queen Camille, and grandmother to the queens Mirabella, Arsinoe and Katharine. Her life and reign served to amplify the poisoner gift once she won her crown, yet it was not strong enough to preserve her from the pain of childbirth that eventually took her life.

I do not own any of the characters canon to the world of 'Three Dark Crowns'. 'Three Dark Crowns' and its canonical characters mentioned/included belong to the author Kendare Blake. This is an alternative take on its established history and worldbuilding.
