The world has changed, humans no longer control the earth. They squandered it, they destroyed our precious planet and the supernatural's of the world rebelled and won the war.
This world is now run by the top five species, each has a royal family that runs their kingdom. The kingdoms are run by most powerful species and they are dragon, vampire, demon, werewolf, warlock/witch.
Their are other subspecies and rare species that are coveted as true mates or chosen mates. Mostly because of their ability for their submissive males to become pregnant, and how other worldly gorgeous they appear, and their high level of magic.
Each citizen in every kingdom must file with the Magical Species Correlation, their classification. If they don't, then they have to go in front of the High Court or even the king and if they are found to be of high value like a clairvoyant, then that monarch has every right to claim this citizen as their property.
At the age of 16, each citizen gets their second classification which is closer to the roll they'll play once they find their mate. This secondary classification is tested in schools and classification centers connected to the Magical Species Correlation.
So, some citizens hide their classification in fear of never seeing their families again or in fear of becoming a plaything.
This is the world every citizen lives in, most live inside the kingdom in the cities but a few live in the outskirts which have small villages and even further out some live in the forests in the neutral land in cottages or farms. Not many live that way, because the forest is ripe with bandits and mercenaries, hell bent on the reward that is bestowed upon you if you find and bring in a clairvoyant to the king.
