Omega Vampires are seen as the weakest of the vampire's, useless and offer nothing but annoyances, most vampires that are turned become or stay as an alpha, omega vampires are usually killed. With legacies, never in history has an omega legacy been born, as legacies are more powerful then any vampires, and no one wants a weak legacy. Omega vampire's have to drink more often to replenish their thirst and strength, if an omega vampire is treated right and cares for themselves well, they can just be as powerful as a alpha vampire, however they usually never get to that stage. When Margot gives birth to Juliette she is expecting another alpha vampire, she had no worry or doubt in her mind that she would give birth to an omega, so when she gives birth and its found that Juliette is an omega, its a total shock, however if anyone else was to find out apart from the Fairmont family, they would be shunned so they managed to keep it a secret. Cal is born as an alpha which doesn't surprise her family, omegas are fine in the human world but alphas are stronger.
