Leof was gone.

I wanted to scream again at the thought. My Leof was dead, laid out in the shrine where I'd left him just before dawn. It hadn't taken an army to kill him, all it had taken was one wolf, one man whom he'd shown mercy to. Fenrir had done his job just as predicted, and I'd lost the only thing that mattered to me, the only thing that had kept me sane after the truth of my past was revealed. Conn was my strength, my heart, the very best parts of me and I'd never see him again. Once his body was given to the sun and his echo vanished I'd never hear him say the three words that were my reason to exist.

I love you. I love you. I love you...

But I'm not ready to let be alone. I'm not ready for goodbye. Condemning my Leof to Valhalla is something I can't do, but what if there's no way to bring him back?

Can I just fade away? Slip into the coma and forget everything? Would it be fair to when the cohort needs me to protect them from Osier, from the Bloodied Hand, and from our ever increasing number of enemies?

Marigold is the only daughter of the tyrant king of the Fae realm. After witnessing her father murder her mother, she was sent into a powerless exile to keep her quiet. After being paired with her third ruthless Alpha in Scotland, a visitor from the state of Washington surprised everyone. Finn is the strong Alpha of the largest pack on the west coast. He's been dying to meet his mate, but never imagined she would be a fae. The idea of a werewolf Alpha mating outside of the species is unimaginable until Finn has no other option. He adores his mate and is ready to sacrifice anything for her. But the mate bond and her sudden freedom is overwhelming Marigold and she decided to run. Will their bond survive? Little do they know that their fate has been written in the stars for generations. A war is on the horizon and they must all be ready. "I slowly stepped up to his bed and reached out my hand. I touched his arm softly, scared that I was going to hurt him. The second our skin touched, Finn stirred. His heart monitor spiked as the sparks from our bond covered our skin. All of my worries were suddenly gone. I climbed into bed with him, snuggling my body against his and forcing him to feel my presence. I laid my head on his chest and wrapped my arm around him. I listened to the monitor begin to stabilize and focused on the sound of his heart beating beneath my ear. I clung to that sound like my life depended on it. I felt his body slowly begin to warm under me like I was literally pushing life into him. I sighed and felt my own strength begin to return as our mate bond pulsed between us. "What are you doing?" She asked and her voice sounded rather small even to her. She had asked him how to help him. This wasn't what she was expecting and being flush against him she could easily tell just how aroused he was. She didn't think she'd done anything to evoke that kind of response. Clearly she had and there was a kind of rumble she could just barely hear coming from him. He turned her and took a step forward which trapped her between him and the glass there. His mouth grazed hers and she thought that he was going to kiss her but didn't. He couldn't be any more flush against her if he tried and she wasn't sure if she should try and move away or not. Actually a part of her didn't really mind and was rather excited by what he did. Was doing, and she definitely felt a rush through her and her stomach clenched when she felt his teeth scrap against her throat. His hands dropped to the hem of her shirt and rather swiftly shoved it upward as his hands slid over her sides and she shivered for a moment. She should tell him to stop, but she knew he wouldn't listen. Ragnarok is the end of all. The three siblings Fenrir, Hel, and Jormungandr will destroy the nine realms. Once Fenrir is freed when Jormungandr shakes the worlds. It would break open the tomb holding Fenrir and then even the gods would be devoured. But what happens if Fenrir's tomb is opened by a mortal instead? What happens when the siblings of Ragnarok are shown a different choice other then what fate had decreed? Some times it's not about saving the world, just saving one soul that can change the fate of all the rest. How do you stop a god that doesn't care and wants to destroy? How do you love one that has never felt? Are you willing to love someone who may never love you?

I live in a world where I am nameless. I live in a world where I do not matter except or unless I am owned by someone. I do not have rights, freedoms, joys, wishes, or aspirations. I am property. I was born and raised to belong to someone that will one day take me away like the fairy tale stories that I listened to everyday in the house I live in. I prayed every night that a handsome prince would come and take me to live in his castle just like in the books. I prayed that I would be a princess and have a kingdom just like in the books. But I was never told that the books were all lies. I was never told the true reason why I was a well sought after commodity. I was never told that I am not the only one like me. When I found out it was too late to save myself. To think and in less than 4 days I will be taken away from my current home and be in a home of my own. I sat on the simple wooden bed hoping that my owner was nice and kind. I hated to think about some of the stories that I heard about the other girls like me. I hated thinking about being exterminated because I made my owner unhappy. I thought to myself that I would try real hard to keep him happy. I remember the covenant of rules that would keep me and my owner happy. I would need to follow five rules. 1. Always obey my owner. 2. Always be available to my owner. 3. Never talk back. 4. Always agree with my owner. 5. I am not human so I cannot do human things. I wondered how pretty human women were. I was so nervous about my departure I nearly refused to leave my room. I could leave if there wasn’t anything wrong with me physically. I remember the den mother telling me not to do anything that would cause a refund or else I would be exterminated upon refund. My new owner had thirty days to return me. If he returned me and no one else was interested I would be exterminated. I would be killed because it would be thought that I was defective and no one would want a defective product.

My dream continued the one I'd been having for the past couple of nights. I ran, gasping for breath, through the familiar woods from a dark figure behind me. The faster I tried to run, the slower I seemed to go, until it was like I was running in place. I knew I needed to run. I was terrified of what the figure would do when he caught me. "Mara Leigh," a deep, smooth voice called. It was almost hypnotic. That was new. The figure had never spoke before now. I ran as fast as I could go, eyes searching the forest floor for a big stick or something that I could use to defend myself. "Mara Leigh!" the voice came again, this time more insistent. The forest slowly started to fade and I started to awake to someone shaking my shoulders. "Beau?" I mumbled, turning my head to the side. What's Beau doing in my room this time of night? Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife. Then he grabbed both my hands in one of his and held them over my head. He held me down while I struggled. I grunted and moved and tried to kick and scream, but I only wore myself out. Exhausted, I stopped thrashing and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried to prepare myself for whatever was coming.

You said I'm playing a god's game, but you should be more concerned about playing a monster's. That's a game I'll win... I would go to Beorn to save Conn's cohort; a cohort I'd never asked to be part of. I hadn't asked for any of it. I'd wanted my husband, his child, to live and die a mortal life in a time which was almost beyond memory. I hadn't ever asked for this life. Why did everyone seem so able to forget that? They all wanted to be shocked, to gather around their Sire and shake their heads in disgust at the adulterer. What they didn't get, what none of them understood, was that it was going to hurt me far more than it was going to hurt him. For a millennium, my body was used as a weapon, as a potential way to hurt Leof, or a way to exert control over me, and over Ragnar's terrified recruits. Did they think this was what I wanted? Yet even I underestimated the damage Beorn could do, and my alarm increased when he whispered the very last thing I expected, "Oh no, you're much more than a vampire. That's what makes you so interesting. Do you remember being queen of Ésageard?" How could I predict that what I was mattered little compared to what Beorn was? I didn't realise, even as he insisted, "Fenn. For tonight, you will call me Fenn. I don't expect to tell you again. I want my name ingrained on your consciousness until the day you realise that I'm far stronger than your 'king of the gods' could ever be." VAMPIRE/PARANORMAL/URBAN FANTASY

"To the left and right, the trees were drawing closer and closer. The wind blew at my back as if it wanted to throw me off the cliff. The cliff. The abyss right beneath my feet. I gathered all my courage, took a few steps back, started running ... and jumped." You lose your memory. That's what they say, happens, when you cross the fence. The very person of you fades into the fogginess of oblivion. What comes out on the other side, once the fog has lifted, will be nothing but the empty shell you left behind. I knew this. I knew this very well. It had been recited to me countless times. Over and over again. And yet, what really happened was reserved solely to the one, who dared to take the leap. And I knew I was different. I always had been. The two voices in my head had been fighting for as long as I could remember. They had slowly melted into one and I was no longer able to tell them apart. Had I another choice? I was running out of options, just as I was running out of breath. Staying in the North meant losing myself to darkness. Going over the fence meant losing myself to oblivion. But if the person I was, was really meant to die, then I would choose to be free. I took a deep breath and counted down from ten. Goodbye, Fenrok. Whatever happens next, is Fenn's part of the story.
