This 1-part story is dedicated to @_nymphomaniac for inspiring me with her absolutely beautiful story, which moved me to tears. It is my submission for the 'Untouched' writing contest.
"Ariel," he mumbled...tossing and turning in his sleep. "Ariel..."
Ares jolted awake from his restless slumber, from his tossing and turning and thrashing, his entire body drenched, covered in a thin layer of sweat. His lip trembled as the images from his dream crashed into the forefront of his memory like a tidal wave, and he groaned as he tried to chase the images of him making sweet to Ariel, but if anything they only got more persistent, the focus sharpening in his foggy sleep-deprived mind and ridding him of the little piece he had.

One of the most painful things on earth is to lose a loved one. Whether in death or heartbreak. It's a pain different from all others. You feel every burn, every ache, your senses awaken, and greedily await a memory to sip in and then wreck your entire being. She took everything. His Light. His Heart. His Soul. It had no end. For years it went on like it would never end. But, it did. "Maybe she never did," I walk away, not sparing a single glance back, no matter how much my body was begging me to. I fuss over my hair, pouting as I run my fingers through it to put it back into place. *A warning note* I am not an expert on Greek Mythology, but it interests me greatly. Please excuse any inaccuracies in the book, but if there are any please do message or comment it and I will see if I can change it without making such a huge difference to the plot. Also, my main character is autistic and the experience will be different for everyone. I have tried my hardest to put down on paper how I feel and how I believe others see me. So, please be respectful about the decisions my characters make as I have chosen to give them many different types of neurodivergent brains.
