"I don't know who is controlling my hand, because it couldn't possibly be me who is reaching toward Ben's and holding it. He seems surprised as well, but doesn't let go, much to my relief.
"I can't believe you're alive," I say before I can stop myself.
"I know what you mean. I thought everyone I knew was dead," he agrees, giving my hand a quick squeeze and making my heart flutter.
