As Grandfather approaches the end of his life he reaches out to his grandson, John. John is a simple working man. When his grandfather wishes to see him he complies. As John and Grandfather share conversations, John realizes that Grandfather had changed from the man he had once known. Grandfather is determined to share his ideals of life with his grandson despite John having difficulty understanding.
Author's Note: I wrote this after my father passed. I was in high school and I was assigned to write a philosophical piece. It helped me navigate my father's death and define my own views on life. I do not intend to offend anyone with my comments on purpose and God. However, I am proud of this piece which is why I shared it. I hope that you can enjoy it as much as I enjoy rereading it.
