Abandoned and alone, in a world plagued by an unstoppable, nuclear winter. John Phoenix must find some reason to keep on fighting. Pittsburgh was one of the first few cities to fall, as its citizens couldn't cope with the winter. Law Enforcement and all forms of Government were quickly destroyed; and were replaced with various gangs. Those who still tried to keep order, were killed. With the city being split within multiple Sections, including a Blackzone which holds the infamous gang, the: "Angels of Death" there is no safety in a city that can't even protect itself.

The story begins in a rural Nevada town, alternating between multiple different characters, all of which are teenagers at the same high school. It is a typical Monday for most of the students there, until strange sirens kick off the beginning of an unexpected major apocalyptic event, which appears to be a nuclear assault. In the course of the chaos, all of the teachers and supervisors are killed, leaving this group of teenagers to fend for themselves within the darkness of the fallout shelter beneath their school. It isn't until they reach the brink of hunger and self-destruction that they finally leave the shelter and discover that they are the only survivors left in the entire town. People had to learn to adapt to their new environment and try to go back to the way it was before such as school and jobs. However, looks can be deceiving.
