16 year old Christiana comes home after school in the dead of winter to find police surrounding her house. she gets news from one of the officers that her mother had died of a heart attack and she was going to be placed in foster care. Upon hearing this news she runs away wildly, not looking where she is going. Eventually she stops running and looks around, she finds herself in the middle of a forest. Upon hearing cracking below her she looks down and sees herself standing on a frozen lake, she tries to start running but is to late when the ice breaks below her. 16 year old Jumeirah is walking home from practice. Exhausted and Sore, she slowly make her way to her gated neighborhood. She isn't ready to tell her parents what happened and starts coming up with an excuse. Suddenly, something catches her eye. Mirai comes from a long line of witches who have been particularly gifted in using their inner sight. As such, she's trained her sight from a young age. She's always been a disappointment, however, as the only thing she's ever been able to see is the vague image of a girl. On her 18th birthday, Mirai discovers a mark on the back of her neck displaying the number thirty. From her first proper vision, she deduces that unless she finds the girl before the number reaches zero, both of them will die. Only being able to depend on her less than mediocre skills in seeing the future, Mirai sets out to find the girl before the time is up. Little does she know of the trauma the girl has suffered, nor that finding her is only the beginning. ---------- Mature rating due to: smut, violence, suicide (happens in the prologue while POV-character has her back turned), rape (happens in chapter 30 and will be mentions of it afterwards, fade to black, there will NOT be a trigger warning at the beginning of the specific chapter), violent death of babies, some rather bloody scenes, self-harm, extreme guilt.
