A collection of pieces giving voice to the emotions, grief, and trauma that I felt after the catastrophic hurricane Maria passed through Puerto Rico. The first three pieces are my interpretations of unfinished fragments I found in my sketchbook reimagined through the lens of oppression and colonialism that I felt after the catastrophe. The last two pieces are a reflection from the present point of view.

When hardship is experienced, it is only human of us to think on the past. Sometimes though, we end up in a cycle of rumination, reliving events that cannot be changed; we become depressed in our memories. Writing can be therapeutic, so here is a collection of poetry exploring a range of sad and confronting memories. By sharing these poems, I hope to not only further my journey towards peace with the past but to connect with others out there who may be feeling the same way. This is a collection of poems by a ruminator for ruminators.
