The primary, fundamental, foundational first principle of Sanatana Hindu Dharma is the Guru-Disciple relationship. Everything starts there, and everything ends there. Everything starts there, and everything ends there but this itself does not end. In the Guru-Disciple relationship, everything starts there, everything ends there, but the relationship itself never ends.
अद्वतन्तु शिवेनोक्त क्रियायासविवर्जितम् ।
गुरुवक्त्रेण लभ्येत नान्यथागमकोटिभिः ॥ १०८ ॥
advatantu śivenokta kriyāyāsavivarjitam ।
guruvaktreṇa labhyeta nānyathāgamakoṭibhiḥ ॥ 108 ॥
The Supreme knowledge of the One declared by Lord Śiva, free from ritual and austerity, is to be received from the mouth of the Guru.
