You never expect the unexpected.
Things happen so fast that you have no choice but to adjust. One day you're living what you think is normal, and the next you're realizing nothing is as it seems. You're realizing that no matter how fucked up you think your life is, it can always get worse.
Amara lived locked away, receiving a feeling she didn't think classified as love.
Kalon lived on his own, receiving a feeling he knew was love, but was also temporary.
Although they knew nothing of each other, they were going through the same things, just at different times. I guess you could say they're the definition of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. In their case, a lot stronger.
This isn't very unexpected, but they will soon know of each other.
Amara and Kalon will realized that nothing is normal, and nothing is as it seems. They were both being played like pawns on a chess board, being there only to benefit the king and queen. You've never seen a pawn break a rule, go against their leader.
But I guess you have no choice when the king and queen steal from you, use you, and kill the person you love most.
Or in Amara's case, when they steal your innocence, beat you until your black and blue. But it hurts all the more when the two leaders are your parents. The people who are meant to protect you from their very actions.
But hurt turns to anger in the blink of an eye. And when two angry pawns come together, I guess the king and queen should be worried...
