This is a tiny retelling of Hades and Persephone. There are thousands out there, I am not original, but I couldn't stop thinking about this. Hopefully someone else out there appreciates this tidbit.

DIVINE - A Persephone And Hades Retelling
"I've told you, Hades, I can not become your mistress." she sadly told him. She had always lived in her mother's shadow, and if she followed Hades, she would once again be living in another's shadow. Even though she loved him, she did not think she could stomach it. "I do not want you to be my mistress, Persephone, I want you to be my queen," he confessed to her. She snapped her head up to meet his eyes, searching for any sign he wanted to take his words back, but there was no remorse. And just like that, she fell ever so slightly more in love with him. "Your queen?" she asked, she had to be sure. Strangely the word had slid off her tongue gracefully as if it had belonged there. "Yes, become my queen," he told her once again, taking back the step she had taken. "Rule besides me as the goddess of spring and the Underworld." A retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone -- For as long as Persephone can remember it has always been her and her mother. Until one day, a stranger appears, causing her to have unfamiliar feelings-her world changes when her mother persuades her to go to the Underworld with him. Daughter of Hades
We all know the story of how Hades's kidnapped Persephone from her mother and his sister Demeter, brought her to the Underworld and tricked her by eating a Pomegranate that forces her to spend half the year in the Underworld with him. While Persephone may have been reluctant to be with the King of The Underworld at first, she slowly grew to love it and her husband. Hades being the most hated God received a curse from Persephone father, Zeus, that any child Hades and Persephone had together would destroy the world as we know it. Neglecting to tell his young wife this Persephone becomes pregnant. Excited to tell her husband about the news when she gets back to the underworld, her mother let's her know of the curse that Zeus has put on the child. Demeter urges her to be rid of the child, but Persephone, Goddess of Fertility denies the request and hides her pregnancy from all. Once Persephone has the child Zeus and Hades find out, so she asks Athena and Aphrodite for protection of the beautiful little girl. They counteract the little girls curse by providing the girl with a future love so strong, it will kill the darkness inside of her. This is the story of that girl, Helena, Daughter Of Hades.Complete

Flowers and Shadows
Hades and Persephone is a story that has so many different sides to it. Some people romanticize their relationship (often without taking into account certain aspects of the myth) while others insist that Hades was nothing but perverse and awful... even though taking Persephone, after having her father's permission, was quite normal for the time! This is a retelling of the ancient myth, with all the ancient components to it. I researched the story from many different sources and tried to make it as accurate as possible. The only writer's license was the amount of time she spent in the Underworld before Hermes came-- I never found an exact number, so I wrote it as six months, partly so that they had time to truly fall for each other, partly so that she would return to the mortal realm immediately after being returned to Demeter. Persephone is a character who understands the place goddesses and women have in the world, understands the normalcy of her capture, but still struggles with feeling like it's unjust. Hades is a god with few romantic relationships in his past (Leuce and Minthe) who hadn't fallen for anyone for a while and wasn't quite sure how to treat a goddess in a realm he never visited. Death is what comes to people like a thief in the night, snatching them with no intentions of bringing them back. Death is a nagging parent that you try to outsmart time and time again but no matter how many times you may think you have outsmarted them, in the end they will have the last word. Death is the old friend that nobody likes and yet you cannot live without. Death is many things but I never thought it would be my lover. Kore lives alone with her controlling mother, Demi. She hasn't seen any other person besides her homeschool teacher since she was a little girl after a mysterious incident happened at school one day that her mother refuses to talk to her about. She keeps her locked away on a farm and only lets her go out occasionally. It isn't until her cat dies and after picking him up, becomes alive again when she realizes why her mother has locked her away for all these years. She discovers she has the gift of healing. When she confronts her mother about it, her mother reveals to her that they are not human but in fact, Goddesses trapped inside human vessels to protect Kore from the Gods who want to marry her. But things only get worse when one day, as Kore is picking flowers in the meadow, there is an earthquake and she is taken up by this earthquake and falls into the arms of none other than Hades.
