James is a monster. Not that he minds; he's never known any alternative. Disgusted by him and his shortcomings, he is rejected by his own kind and is forced to leave his cave. However, when he arrives in a human city, he discovers that he doesn't belong among regular folk, either. That is, until he meets Tolly.

Tolly is a bright flash of color in James' dark world. An outgoing, streetwise mortuary science student, Tolly is no stranger to the unusual, and the pair become inseparable. James offers her a perspective she's never considered, and she helps him integrate into human civilization.

However, the closer they get, the more pieces they realize they have missing. Tolly has her own demons, but James can't bring himself to move past his monstrous upbringing. Can two broken people of wildly different species manage to fix each other?
