The states are Americas kids

They're not really secret, America just doesn't talk about them much 

A bunch of states are already legal adults, so they take care of the younger states while America is away

America is away often

The younger kids grow a bit of a pained resentment towards their father, because he's never around much

Texas is a main character in this because do you know who I am??

But also it is 3rd person so everyone gets a lil bit of attention
