Hyacinthus is the esteemed duke of the Vroudian Empire. Growing up, he enjoyed many luxuries, including being the closest friend and right-hand man of the empire's crown prince. As they gradually grow up together, Hyacinthus grows feelings for the crown prince, Atticus. The poor duke must keep his emotions from getting in the way of political affairs and in the course of Atticus's plans of being a powerful emperor. Just as things couldn't go any worse, he makes a shocking discovery between the emperor and his soon-to-be-wife.
