before the events of the wxs main story, saki passed due to her illness. tsukasa would try again and again with different way to cope with her loss, but none seemed to work. he didn't have many friends at school so not many people to talk to. eventually he'd started daydreaming and hallucinating, of amusement parks and enthusiastic friends. the wonderland sekai became just part of his daydreaming and hallucinations, and never existed. rui, emu, and nene became part of this too, and they didn't actually exist, they were just a figment of tsukasa's imagination with him trying to cope over losing his sister.
